Cica Sleeping Mask
An overnight mask that earns its place on any sensitive skin shelf. Madecassoside, ectoin, beta-glucan, and squalane — each with documented barrier-repair and soothing evidence — work overnight under an occlusive cream format. The current formula is fragrance-free. The cica stack here is a supporting cast, not a leading concentration.
Active ingredient
Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Ectoin, Beta-Glucan, Squalane
What it does
The real benefit
The formula's strength comes from converging actives with real published evidence. Madecassoside is the most bioavailable centella compound, with clinical data for wound healing, barrier repair, and collagen synthesis stimulation. Ectoin has published RCT data for barrier repair and anti-inflammatory benefit, with specific data for atopic and sensitive skin — one of the most underrated actives in the category. Beta-Glucan has strong hydration and wound-healing data, often compared favorably to hyaluronic acid for barrier recovery. Squalane provides clean emollient barrier sealing without comedogenicity risk. The occlusive overnight format amplifies all of the above by minimizing transepidermal water loss during sleep.
What it does not
The honest limits
The centella actives appear at moderate to late INCI positions — this is not a high-concentration cica treatment. Anyone seeking concentrated madecassoside (e.g., SKIN1004's ampoule format) should not expect the same targeted intensity. The niacinamide appears at position 21 — modest brightening contribution at best. 'Hypoallergenic' on the packaging is a marketing term with no regulatory definition. The emollient richness may feel heavy on oily skin in humid conditions.
Ritual
How to use
Final PM step. Apply a generous layer after all serums and moisturizer. Rinse off in the morning. Use 2–3 nights per week for maintenance, or nightly when the barrier is stressed (after retinol use, post-procedure, during reactive episodes).
