Anua
Green Lemon Vita C Blemish Serum 20%
A 20% pure ascorbic acid serum formulated at an active pH — one of the highest concentrations in the K-beauty mid-range. Niacinamide at 5% provides a secondary brightening mechanism via a different pathway. Requires refrigerated storage and strict daily SPF to deliver results.
Active ingredient
Vitamine C (20%), Niacinamide (5%), Green Lemon Extract, Zinc
Aesu’s POV
True benefit — with significant caveats on stability. At 20%, this is a potent, evidence-based brightener, and the niacinamide pairing creates genuine dual-mechanism intelligence. The stability requirement is non-negotiable: without refrigerated storage and timely replacement, you're paying for an oxidised product that no longer works.
What it does
The real benefit
L-ascorbic acid at 20% inhibits tyrosinase and neutralises free radicals through direct antioxidant activity — clinical evidence for vitamin C in hyperpigmentation is strongest at 10–20%, placing this at the upper end of the effective therapeutic window. Niacinamide at 5% targets a different stage of the same pathway, inhibiting melanosome transfer in addition to offering mild anti-inflammatory action. Together they address uneven tone through two independent mechanisms at a single step. Green lemon extract contributes mild exfoliation and polyphenols as a supplementary antioxidant layer.
What it does not
The honest limits
At 20%, L-ascorbic acid must be formulated at pH 2.5–3.5, which significantly increases irritation risk on dry, compromised, or recently exfoliated skin. Do not layer with other acids or retinoids in the same routine. Efficacy requires 8–12 weeks minimum and strict daily SPF — vitamin C does not prevent new UV-triggered damage on its own.

How to use
Apply two to three drops to cleansed, dry skin in the morning before SPF — or PM only if your skin reacts to the low pH. Wait ninety seconds before layering additional products to allow the formula to absorb. Store upright in the refrigerator and replace within 4–6 weeks of opening. Do not layer with AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, or other low-pH actives in the same routine.
